Music Monday: Radioactive Muppets

Less is more as we start off June. When I first learned about Imagine Dragons my favorite song by them was “Radioactive”. Listening to it would always conjure images of a guy walking through a blasted wasteland as the fallout mutated his body into a strange and twisted form that could survive in the new environment, until he finally was human in mind only, inheriting the Earth as a totally different being. So you can probably imagine my initial disappointment when I watched the music video and it was about underground muppet fights.

But that serves us well because it’s such a weird juxtaposition between what you’re seeing in your mind’s eye and what’s being shown to you. I eventually gave them credit on going with the muppets because of how bizarre it was and for how OP the unassuming little bear turns out to be since of course it’s Goku. The basic idea also makes me think about Real Steel for some reason and if you can get me to think about one of the best robot movies in recent years, that’s extra points from me.

Feel It In Your Bones!

I’m waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I’m breathing in the chemicals

I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It’s a revolution, I suppose
We’ll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa

I’m breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, the sun hasn’t died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I’m waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my systems blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh, whoa, oh, oh, oh, I’m radioactive, radioactive
