I’ve been doing fairly well with focusing on the blog over the past few days, due in part to figuring that I could do some light yard work on Saturday when it was seventy-one degrees out. I raked leaves away from the storm drain spill and part of the flower bed and filling a single bag only to have my lower back go into a spasm for two days. That obviously laid me up inside so I couldn’t wander off. The rest of that focus has been coming from both getting small projects done on time and finding inspiration both in what I’m doing and from things that I find while doing so.
It was while looking for podcasts or music to listen to and keep myself focused on working that I chanced upon a suggested post from a Facebook page called For The Love of Bass, Guitar, and Music (I quickly joined it after sampling more videos.) which focused on a music duo called Larkin Poe playing a cover of Santo & Johnny’s “Sleepwalk”. I always brake for slide guitar. This song carries me away whenever I hear it, dropping my gently into a reclined sitting position against the pier in Key West with a cold drink in one rested hand and the brim of my straw hat pulled down over my face on a late afternoon as the strumming of local musicians floats on the breeze.
It was that happy mental image that settled me into the right state of mind to keep focused on recording and typing and Larkin Poe has it down perfectly. Their original music is just as good, chock full of energy and excellent guitar styles. I have definitely found new music to add to my list of stuff to play when I need to energize. Links below!
