Music Monday: Root Cause + Matching with Alex

musicmonday

I have a root canal scheduled for later today so I made sure to remember putting this up as I expect I’ll be hopped up on some massive pain-killer later. I also have three cavities that need work. I would not have them currently if I had made last week’s dentist appointment but there was an incident involving a seizure and possibly a pile-driver so I had to reschedule at the last minute. Actually, someone else had to reschedule for me at the last minute but you get the idea.

So how did I get into this situation? The abscess under my one molar was caused by constant pressure from nightly tooth grinding. I wear a night guard for it but the teeth on the lower-right side were the tiniest bit uneven in height so all the pressure was going onto the one tooth, and those cavities? I’m sure that dragging my feet on setting up with a new dentist after moving played a role there but for a while now I’ve fallen pretty far from my low-sugar to just needing it all the time. I could blame it on the inconsistent grocery runs since both me and Glen are required for them but willpower has been in short supply recently. With all the house and moving business over the last several months my mental walls have crumbled quite a bit.

So there were all kinds of songs about “sugar” or called “sugar”, or by bands with “sugar” in their names but most of them didn’t feel like they were for me, didn’t represent the whole point of dental work. After some thinking I pulled Def Leppard up from my mind, not only because Arena Rock and Hair Metal represent the pure excess of wonderful rock ‘n’ roll glitz to me (“Sugar”, if you will.), but also because I felt that the music video for “Pour Some Sugar On Me” made for a good visual of what sugar does to your teeth and just how wrecked my molar is going to be once the surgeons have worked on it.

Music Matching with Alex!

Weekly challenge: find or share a song that you know that either has a matching title, theme, or other details. The more matches, the better! Make them clear, make them oddly specific, or make them obscure, it’s yours! Musicians welcome! To enter, simply either leave a link to your match as a comment with a few words (More words, if you like.) or add a Pingback to your post and I’ll scuttle over to see what you’ve come up with. 😀

“Break it up”, indeed.

Step inside, walk this way
You and me babe
Hey, hey!

Love is like a bomb, baby, c’mon get it on
Livin’ like a lover with a radar phone
Lookin’ like a tramp, like a video vamp
Demolition woman, can I be your man?

Razzle ‘n’ a dazzle ‘n’ a flash a little light
Television lover, baby, go all night
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little Missy Innocent sugar me

So c’mon
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon, fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
I can’t get enough

I’m hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet

Listen!
Red light, yellow light, green light go!
Crazy little woman in a one-man show
Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up

You gotta squeeze a little, tease a little, please a little more
Easy operator come a knockin’ on my door
Sometime, anytime, sugar me sweet
Little Missy Innocent sugar me

So give a little more
Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
I can’t get enough

I’m hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet

You got the peaches, I got the cream
Sweet to taste, saccharine
‘Cause I’m hot, hot, say what, sticky sweet
From my head, my head to my feet

Do you take sugar?
One lump or two?

Take a bottle, shake it up
Break the bubble, break it up

Pour some sugar on me
Ooh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
C’mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can’t get enough

Pour some sugar on me
Oh, in the name of love
Pour some sugar on me
Get it, come get it
Pour your sugar on me
Pour some sugar on me
Sugar me!
