Music Monday: I Can’t Focus! + Music Matching with Alex

musicmonday

Today we’re covering a song that haunted my mind as a mischievous ghost for years. I’m almost certain that I heard at least park of it as a kid because years later when MySpace was still in its heyday I saw a video posted by somebody I followed at the time of them and friends, family, or both dancing and singing along to it at either a wedding or a graduation party if the tuxedos were any clue. I instantly knew the tune but I still didn’t know what the name of the damn song was!

I shall now don my flak jacket for the amount of flak that I’m quite possibly going to get for this (I’ve seen it in several YouTube comment sections. People get absolutely livid over where some folks have learned of either the title or the song itself!), but I could not possibly do a search for “yodeling flute guitar bopping guy” and not have a team of scientists cart me off to study my brain. So here it goes: it took until 2014 and the re-make of Robocop for me to finally learn this song’s name. right, the scene where he’s tested against the drones. I feel your hate, it tastes like sweet licorice spice drops. “Hocus Pocus” was it called, Focus was it performed by.

Focus Hocus Pocus. Really makes the head spin. Now that my knowledge of this Dutch band has been established am I in the clear, or is my generation still killing “The Applebees”? Jokes aside, I LOVE the energy of this song.
